I know, I’m a killjoy, but I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with flatlay images.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not completely dead inside – more often than not I’ll see a beautifully curated flatlay and think “oooh that’s pretty”, but 99% of the time it’s also followed by the practical part of my brain scoffing “but seriously, WTF, who just casually sets up some freshly cut flowers with some streamers of colour coordinated ribbon beside their laptop before starting work”.
Am I alone in this?
Am I just a misery, sucking the happiness out of the beauty of these images that are undeniably pretty but presented in a completely staged and completely unrealistic way?
Or are there others out there like me who really want to love a flatlay but just can’t see beyond the, quite frankly, impracticality of them!
